While at the Podium,
one restaurant immediately piqued our interest. This is the Chelsea Market & Café located on the ground floor. With both an al fresco and indoor dining
space, the restaurant caters to various types of diners.
Since the servings here
seem to be a lot, we opted to skip the starters. We simply ordered a variety of
main dishes.
While waiting for our orders
to arrive, a complimentary bread platter was served. The bread here is unique. It’s
not your simple loaf as it contains a lot of different herbs which adds many
flavors. Also, I appreciate the garlic garnish that comes with the bread.
For the pasta dish, we
got Baked Herb Chicken & Spinach
Gorgonzola Cream Rigatoni. I like how they made the sauce to be so rich and
creamy. It makes perfect contrast to the tender strips of baked chicken on top.
The addition of walnuts into this mixture adds another layer of taste which
will make you want to have more!
I really enjoyed the Southern Style Cornflake & Oatmeal
Crusted Fried Chicken in a Basket. It was crispy on the outside but oh so
juicy in the inside. Who would have thought that using cereals to coat your
fried chicken will make more appealing to the palette? Also, another thing I liked
is that it does not leave your mouth with a greasy feel afterwards. The side
salad that came with this dish complements it very well. It was a delight to bite
into a piece of chicken and a bunch of greens at the same time. Oh yeah, I find
the vinaigrette on this salad to be very delicious!
Another meat dish we
got was Grilled Maple Cider Glazed
Bone-In Pork Chop. I like the fact there the marinade of the pork chop
seeped into the meat very well. You can taste the flavors from within the meat.
It was cooked very well too – not to firm but not too soft either. I appreciated
the mashed potatoes that came along with this dish as well – smooth and creamy.
Last but not least was
the Slow-Cooked Herbed Norwegian Salmon.
The fish was nicely prepared. You can its freshness from the taste it gives off.
The sauce pairs well with the fish while the pine nuts add a little bit of
contrast. Overall, it was clean tasting and refreshing.
The presentation of
the food here at Chelsea Market & Café was worth taking note of – makes you
visually appreciate the food as well.
I’m sure we’ll be back
here again to try out their other appetizing dishes!
